Introduction

Welcome to DEMISE: Ascension!

... a role playing game with a considerable pedigree that has grown and developed over the years with invaluable contributions from its many loyal and steadfast followers.

From humble beginnings way back in 1994, the original developer David Allen brought the game through various stages - Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol, Mordor 2: Darkness Awakening, Infinite Worlds and then DEMISE: Rise of the Ku'Tan which had its 'Gold' release in early 2000.  Mr Allen stated in his original introduction to the Online Information System ... "In the end, it was the players that shaped Demise to be what it is." ... equally true for Ascension, as Guild and Race changes were extensively debated on the forums.

It is hard to believe that I have been a part of this community for over twelve years.

In 2005, give or take, I acquired the rights to the collective Mordor / Demise Intellectual Property ( what a mouthful! )  ... a stalwart group had already begun the expansion "Ascension" but when I settled down to start work on it I realized there was more than 'just' an expansion happening!   Somehow, in the back of my mind as I played the games in the early part of the last decade, I became aware of the lie of the land beyond.   The Quiet River in the far North West, the Devil's Kitchen in the North East and  beyond that window in the Paladin's chambers on level 1 - Erik's Folly!  They were always there, just out of reach but now we have the opportunity to explore more of the land!   Demise: Rise of the Ku'Tan is volume 1 of a trilogy  and it is included here in its entirety with only minor 'tweaks' to the story.... Demise: Ascension is volume 2 which begins where the original leaves off.

The Ascension Help System has been written to give you the basic information you will need to start the game.  Demise: Ascension is very large and can be explored for hundreds of hours by multiple characters that you have the ability to create, develop and command as you see fit.  Once you start playing, you will realize just how little you really know about the former Mines of Dejenol -- and how much there is for you to discover!

Once you’re ready, you can embark even further into the game-playing experience by talking, trading, and exploring with others over the Internet.  This is the most exciting aspect of  Ascension - it may be played by a single player or played online on other players' servers.

I recommend that you read the Help pages describing the Guilds and the City before playing the game.  Once you start playing, you can refer back to more specific sections for detailed information - don't worry too much about the complexity of the game, just get yourself an overview then plunge on in!

Thank you very much for your interest and I hope you enjoy the adventure - see you on the forums and from time-to-time "on-line" ...
